Beach Walk is the paved, palm-lined promenade that runs along the Gulf side of Clearwater Beach, connecting Pier 60 on the north to the Hyatt Regency on the south. It's one of the nicest beach walks in Florida, completely free, and open 24 hours a day. If you only have a couple of hours in town, walking the full length of Beach Walk will give you the best overview of the beach.
Where It Starts & Ends
The northern end begins at Pier 60 Park, where the Sunset Festival is held nightly, and runs south along the Gulf Coast for just over a mile. It ends near the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach at South Gulfview Boulevard. Along the way you'll pass:
- Pier 60 itself (great fishing + the sunset festival)
- Frenchy's Rockaway Grill + a playground + volleyball courts
- Palm Pavilion Beachside Grill (beach-bar dinner spot)
- Dozens of shops, ice cream stands, and surf-gear stores
- The Shephard's Beach Resort entertainment complex
- The Hyatt Regency Aqualea + its public pool deck
What Makes It Worth Walking
- Palm trees and fountains. The walkway is lined with royal palms, splash fountains, and public art. It doesn't feel like a regular sidewalk.
- Open to the Gulf. The entire walk has unobstructed Gulf views on one side and shops on the other.
- Sunset viewing. Any spot along Beach Walk is a good sunset spot. The benches face west on purpose.
- No cars. Beach Walk is a pedestrian-only promenade — no traffic, no crossings, easy with strollers and wheelchairs.
When to Walk It
- Early morning (7–9 AM). Coolest, quietest, best photos. Grab coffee at Panera or Clear Sky Beachside Café.
- Late afternoon (4–6 PM). The beach is still warm, but the crowds start heading to dinner and you'll have space.
- Sunset. Busy but the payoff is huge — plan to walk to Pier 60 for the sunset festival.
Pair It With
- A grouper sandwich at Frenchy's Rockaway — it's on the walk
- The Pier 60 Sunset Festival — ends your walk at the crown jewel
- Ice cream from Camille's — essential halfway treat
- People-watching at Crabby's rooftop — optional pit stop
Parking
Park at either end of the walk and use both parking garages as bookends. North Beach Parking Plaza is near Pier 60; the Hyatt Aqualea Garage anchors the south. See our full parking guide for details.
Local tip: walk the full length, eat at Frenchy's halfway, then loop back along the beach itself on the sand. You'll get the promenade and the shoreline in one outing.Back to the Must-Do List
