Parking at Clearwater Beach, depending on what time of year, can often be tricky. This guide covers parking specifically on Clearwater Beach and Island Estates — we'll skip off-beach parking lots and shuttles for another article.
The Three Public Parking Garages
Three public paid parking garages operate at the beach and between them hold more than 1,250 spaces. In peak season these fill quickly, so earlier is better.
1. North Beach Parking Plaza
490 Poinsettia Ave · 400+ spaces · North end of the beach, near Palm Pavilion and the entrance to Pier 60.
2. Britt's Surf Style Parking Garage
311 S. Gulfview Blvd · 300+ spaces · Middle of Beach Walk, attached to the Surf Style retail building.
3. Hyatt Aqualea's Parking Garage
301 S. Gulfview Blvd · 550+ spaces · Public garage underneath and attached to the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach.
When Should I Arrive?
It is recommended you get to Clearwater Beach in the morning to early afternoon hours to find parking, especially during spring break or any holiday weekend. By noon on a hot Saturday, all three garages can be full.
On-Street Metered Parking
There are metered on-street spaces scattered throughout the beach, most along Mandalay Ave and side streets. On-street parking allows up to five paid hours.
Any Free Parking?
Very limited. There is one free hour at South Beach Surf Style, and North Beach Parking Plaza offers 15 minutes free — both designed for quick shopping trips, not a day at the beach.
Enforcement
Clearwater Beach strictly enforces its parking regulations. The city has a dedicated parking enforcement division that patrols the area throughout the day. Expired meters, overtime stays, and improperly-parked vehicles are ticketed quickly — read meter signs carefully and keep your payment app current.
Electric Vehicles
Five electric chargers operate on Clearwater Beach, with two additional chargers on Island Estates. If you drive an EV, see our dedicated guide: Electric Car Charging at Clearwater Beach.
Local tip: if the garages are full, try Island Estates or the public lots near the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, then take the short Jolley Trolley across Memorial Causeway back to the beach.Back to Parking Articles
