Frenchy's is what first-time Clearwater Beach visitors are told to eat the second they arrive. It's a four-location local chain — all on Clearwater Beach — that's been serving its signature grouper sandwich since 1981. The fish is caught by Frenchy's own boats and brought in daily. The line moves fast, the beer is cold, and everyone has a favorite location for different reasons.

The Four Frenchy's Locations

  1. Frenchy's Original Café — 41 Baymont St. The flagship, indoor seating, most consistent food. A block off the beach.
  2. Frenchy's South Beach Café — 351 S. Gulfview Blvd. Smaller, closer to the center of Beach Walk, shortest waits.
  3. Frenchy's Rockaway Grill — 7 Rockaway St. The one with the beach view. Deck overlooks the Gulf. Sunset cocktails here are non-negotiable.
  4. Frenchy's Saltwater Café — 419 Poinsettia Ave. Known for Sunday brunch, quieter atmosphere.

What to Order

Wait Times & When to Go

Expect 45–75 minute waits at Frenchy's Rockaway during peak dinner (6–8 PM) in the summer. For a shorter wait:

Local Tips

Order the grouper blackened. Ask for the She-Crab soup with it. Sit at Rockaway's bar for sunset. That's the Frenchy's experience distilled — and it's better than any review could describe.

If Frenchy's is slammed and you can't wait, Palm Pavilion and Crabby's Bar & Grill are both excellent runner-ups on Beach Walk. But do Frenchy's at least once — it's the flavor of Clearwater Beach.
