Clearwater Beach hotels use "beachfront" loosely, so start with the geography. On the sand means the pool deck opens onto the beach: no street, no promenade, nothing between you and the Gulf. Across Beach Walk means the hotel faces the paved beachfront promenade on the south half of the island; you cross it in under a minute, but you do cross it, usually carrying chairs and a cooler.
